Prenatal chiropractic · ICPA Webster Certified · Buford, GA
Dr. Corie Terwilliger, D.C. is Webster-certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and provides gentle prenatal chiropractic care at Georgia Spine & Sports Rehab, 4325 South Lee Street in Buford. Pregnancy back pain, pelvic and SI joint discomfort, hip pain, and staying active through every trimester.
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that works to balance the pelvic bones, pelvic muscles, and pelvic ligaments during pregnancy. It addresses the mother's pelvis, not the baby. Certification requires post-graduate training, a written exam, and case documentation through the ICPA.
The technique
The Webster Technique is a specific sacral and pelvic analysis paired with a gentle, diversified adjustment and soft-tissue work on the round ligament and pelvic muscles. The goal is a balanced pelvis, which is proposed to reduce stress on the mother's body and nervous system and support pelvic function throughout pregnancy and birth. It is among the most widely taught and used techniques in prenatal chiropractic. Definition adapted from the ICPA, which trains and certifies Dr. Corie in the technique.
What it is not: the Webster Technique is not a treatment for fetal position, labor outcome, or any obstetric condition, and Dr. Corie does not claim otherwise. Questions about presentation belong with your OB or midwife, and the clinic coordinates with them on every prenatal case.
Who it is for
Most prenatal patients come to Dr. Corie for low back pain, sacroiliac joint discomfort, pubic symphysis and hip pain, sciatica-type symptoms, round ligament tension, and the general job of staying active and comfortable as the body changes. Care is appropriate in any trimester, with the approach adjusted to where you are.
Patients drive in from Buford, Sugar Hill, Flowery Branch, Lawrenceville, and across Gwinnett and Hall counties. Many continue with Dr. Corie after delivery for postpartum care and, later, for gentle pediatric care for their newborn. Pediatric care →
The visit
/01
A full health history, including your OB or midwife of record, current trimester, and any pregnancy complications. No X-rays, ever, during pregnancy.
/02
A pregnancy-appropriate musculoskeletal exam of the sacrum, pelvis, hips, and low back, with the specific Webster analysis of pelvic balance.
/03
Gentle, low-force work in side-lying and supported positions using pregnancy pillows. You will not lie flat on your stomach. Pressure is calibrated to you, never the other way around.
/04
Positions, movement, and simple daily habits that support what was done on the table. The first visit runs 45 to 60 minutes; follow-ups are shorter.
Safety
For most pregnant patients, yes. Webster-certified care is designed around the way the body changes during pregnancy: gentle, low-force, with no pressure on the belly and tables configured for side-lying and seated work depending on trimester. Dr. Corie screens every prenatal patient for conditions that call for caution, such as bleeding, placenta previa, or preeclampsia, and will ask you to confirm clearance with your provider when appropriate. She will decline or modify care whenever that is the safer choice.
The certification
Webster certification through the ICPA requires post-graduate coursework, a written examination, and documented cases. It is not the same as "I've adjusted pregnant patients." Certified practitioners are listed in the ICPA's public directory at icpa4kids.com, which families can use to verify any provider's status. Dr. Corie also holds her Georgia chiropractic license through the Georgia Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Corie's full bio and credentials →
Prenatal questions
When should I start prenatal chiropractic care?
Many patients begin in the first or second trimester, and others come in late in pregnancy when discomfort peaks. There is no wrong time to ask. Dr. Corie reviews your history and any guidance from your OB or midwife before recommending a plan. Call (770) 614-6551 to talk through timing.
How many Webster visits will I need?
It depends on your symptoms, trimester, and goals. Some patients come weekly for a few weeks and then space visits out; others visit occasionally for flare-ups. Dr. Corie sets expectations at your first visit and adjusts as you go. There is no fixed package and no obligation.
Does the Webster Technique turn breech babies?
We do not treat or claim to change fetal position. The Webster Technique is an assessment and adjustment of the mother's pelvis and sacrum aimed at comfort and mobility. Questions about presentation, including options like external cephalic version, belong with your OB or midwife, and we are glad to coordinate.
Is it safe if I have a high-risk pregnancy?
Dr. Corie screens every prenatal patient for conditions that call for caution, such as bleeding, placenta previa, or preeclampsia, and will ask you to confirm clearance with your provider when appropriate. Care is gentle and low-force, and she will decline or modify treatment whenever that is the safer choice.
Do you accept insurance for prenatal chiropractic?
We are a cash-pay practice with transparent per-visit pricing and do not bill insurance directly. We accept HSA, FSA, all major credit cards, and cash. Members of our ChiroHealth program receive itemized superbills to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement varies by plan and is not guaranteed.
What should I wear, and will I lie on my stomach?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. You will not lie flat on your stomach. Dr. Corie uses pregnancy pillows and side-lying positions so your belly is supported. Adjustments are gentle, and she explains each step before doing it, so you can ask questions or pause at any time.
